Jack Klaus - Public Service
Jack Klaus is a 1946 graduate of Highland High school. Jack' public service is without question. He was a Helvetia Township Trustee for many years. He drove the Faith Countryside van for years as a volunteer and served on the Board. He hosted the Group Study Exchange (GSE student program with the Rotary), often driving exchange students wherever it was they needed to go while in the program. He is active in his church, volunteering to "count money" every week, trim bushes, cut grass, and served on the Consistory and Property Board. Jack is a charter member of the Highland Area Community Foundation.
Jack is an individual who serves the community without fanfare. He has never served as an officer in his organizations, but his fellow members have a saying about Jack, "You will find his name on every sign-up sheet there is." He is considered a "worker bee," always ready to work on the team. He is a member of the Optimist Club, Rotary Club, American Legion, and VFW. He served his country in Korea. Whether he is selling oranges or tickets for the car raffle or working on the church auction, Jack is a strong contributor to the project. He is responsible for delivering the food collected by church to the food pantry each week. Jack serves the public with a steady, quiet, dedicated manner.
Jack live in Highland with his wife, Gloria. They have three children, Vicky Rankin, Carla Zurliene, and Connie Sparlin, and several grandchildren.
