Melissa Glassmaker - Arts & Sciences
Melissa Glassmaker graduated from Highland High School in 1991. She attended University of Missouri-Columbia graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Journalism and Broadcast degree with a Political Science minor.
From August 1995-1998 Melissa was a television producer at WPRI-TV, East Providence, Rhode Island responsible for all aspects of newscast. She worked closely with pre-production and graphics artists and communicated with reporters, tape editors, and assignment desk editors about story coverage.
KSDK-TV/ Gannet Broadcasting, St. Louis, Missouri was her destination from 1998-2002 where she was responsible for all aspects of newscast including developing and writing stories, graphics and working with photographers and reporters. She produced on location at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training, Thanksgiving Day Parade in St. Louis, and MDA Telethon in St. Louis. The years, July 2002 to April 2007, were spent in Knoxville, Tennesse. at WBIR-TV/Gannett Broadcasting where Melissa was #2 in charge of a 60 person newsroom. This included department head level decisions ...strategic planning, hiring team members and budgeting. April 2007 to present finds her back at KSDK-TV/Gannett Broadcasting, St. Louis, Missouri. She manages a team of anchors, reporters, photographers, and producers for the 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. newscasts and ksdk. com. She is responsible for story selection, script and video approval, alert to breaking news, organizing special projects like Election, Olympic, and Superbowl coverage. This also includes hiring, evaluating, and organizing schedules. In February of 2012, Melissa was promoted to Assistant News Director.
