Jeanne Baumann Meyer graduated from HHS in 1961 and was employed at Highland CUSD No. 5 for 31 years as School Nurse and retired in 2003 as Head
Nurse. She has been and is an active member of the Highland area. She initiated the “Adopt-A Family” program at Christmas through the school in 1978, and after she retired she continued the program through Highland Area Christian Service Ministry (HACSM food pantry). She continued her dedication to public service in the area when she joined the staff and volunteers at the food pantry. She is a member of the Highland EvUCC Church where she served on the WeeCare Board for 12 years. She has continued to serve as a member of the Madison County 708 Mental Health Board for the past 25 years. Currently she is the secretary of the Highland Area Community Foundation. She has recently been appointed to the St. Joseph Hospital Board of Directors and served on the Quality Care Board of St. Joseph Hospital for six years. Always caring about someone who is in need, Jeanne started the Ruth Lowenstein Fund in 1976, which helped children in need within the school system. The fund was later changed to the Angel Fund at her retirement, and continues to give children “an extra boast” while in school, with shoes for athletics, to needed supplies for school success. Jeanne is married to Arnold Meyer and has three daughters, Jill Campbell, Gerri Allee, and Paige Stevens and is “Granny” to seven grandchildren. Jeanne has earned several awards including the Woodman of the World “Outstanding Citizen in the Community Service”, the Rotarian “Paul Harris Fellow”, the Ron Lee “Lifetime Achievement” award in emergency medical services for children and the Bob Hardy Citizen of the Year.
