Robin McGee - Arts & Sciences
Robin McGee graduated from Highland High school in 1979. She obtained her Bachelors Degree from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. After SIU-C Robin taught high school music and theatre. Robin then attended the University of Texas in Austin where she obtained a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in costume design.
Robin is an award winning costume designer. She has designed costumes for more than 150 theatrical productions of all kinds around the country, including “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” performed at the St. Louis MUNY last summer. Her vast experience includes everything from Broadway and Off Broadway plays and musicals since 1994, to Vegas style showgirls for Comedy Central, a Christmas show at Seaworld Orlando and a couple of Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey clowns in between. Robin is currently the resident Costume Designer at Des Moines Metro Opera and is a Visiting Artist/Professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Robin has designed costumes for singing animals in the opera “A Muskrat’s Lullaby” and had done detailed period clothing in “The It Girls” and “Fallen Angels”. Along with her writing partner, Robin has written a book entitled Patterns for Costume Accessories, a collection of over 80 patterns for period and contemporary accessories with complete instructions and illustrations of the finished pieces.
Robin is a member of the United Scenic Artists Local 829 and was awarded Outstanding Costume Design at the New York Fringe Festival in 2006 and the Connecticut Critics Circle award for “My One and Only” at the Goodspeed Opera House in 2011.
